The DAE Foundation was founded by Burke High School and College of Charleston alum, Jermel President in 1999. DAE's mission is to educate and train student-athletes to become skilled, effective and responsible citizens of their communities. DAE addresses the needs of student-athletes in a holistic manner, combining innovative basketball skills training with an emphasis on moral character, academic progress, and overall physical and mental health.
Just like any non-profit organization, funding is limited to provide these services. The DAE Foundation will host the 2014 Gus Macker of Charleston Basketball Tournament in efforts to raise funds for the Oatmeal Recipe. The Oatmeal Recipe, endorsed by NBA Hall of Fame forward, Rick Barry, works with young student-athletes to develop the academic, physical and mental skills needed in a successful basketball career.
The Macker is a family event for basketball players of all skill levels! In addition to a good game, attendees can expect food and activities from locally owned businesses. See you on the court!
