 Presenting Sponsor
Burton Parks & Recreation
Welcomes Gus Macker Players & Families

Mayor Charles Smiley

The City of Burton would like to welcome all Gus Macker participants, their families and
friends.  You will find that our great City has a variety of  recreational/entertainment/shopping opportunities and dining facilities nearby to make your stay more enjoyable.

Burton is the home of Kelly Lake Park, which includes a small (non-motorized) lake, bike/walking paths and picnic pavilion.  Also located in Burton as part of the Genesee County Parks & Rec system is camping, a 380 acre For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum with walking/nature trails, two public golf courses and the Ice Mountain Arena Complex.  In addition, the Courtland Shopping Center is located here, which includes a movie theatre.  The City of Burton also has many fine restaurants, including Applebee's, Bob Evans, Tia Helita's, Paul's Coney Island, with easy on/off access to I-69.

We would like to invite you to stay for our Memorial Day festivities on May 26th, 2008, where the City pays a special tribute to all Veterans' that have paid the ultimate sacrafice.  This day starts out with a spectacular parade with various floats, military participants, antique and classic cars, clowns and more.  Immediately following the parade, there will be a memorial service held at our beautiful Veteran's Memorial, a children's play area, entertainment, and we end the evening with a beautiful display of fireworks, graciously sponsored by Meijer.

We hope you enjoy your stay here in the City of Burton and that you come back next year for the Gus Macker 2009 and our Memorial Day celebration.  If there is anything we can do to help you with during your stay, please contact us.
