The 14th Annual Gus Macker Basketball tournament returns to the downtown Norwich on July 11 & 12th. Over 1700 participants will take to thirty-five courts on Main Street competing in individual tournaments based upon skill, height, and age.
The City of Norwich, and Chenango County provide residents and visitors alike the opportunity experience numerous community events and festivals like: General Clinton Canoe regatta; Pagent of Bands; Bluegrass festivals; Chenango County Fair; Chenango County Blues Festival; Colorscape Chenango; Pumpkin Festival& Halloween Parade; and the annual Holiday Parade of Lights. Additionally our local communities offer fine eateries, endless shopping opportunities; antiquing, and an overall sense of hometown friendliness.
The Annual Gus Macker Basketball tournament is organized locally by the Norwich Family YMCA. Proceeds of the Macker event assist the YMCA in building strong kids,
strong families and strong communities.

In addition to supporting the YMCA, the Gus Macker tournament provides a venue for local restaurants to promote their fine food and hospitality. Many community based organizations utilize this event to raise money for their local agencies. Collectively the annual Gus Macker tournament in Norwich raises over $20,000 for local not for profits.
Whether you have been playing hoops for years, just beginning or just want to watch a great community event with a focus on youth and family, we encourage you to visit this year’s event.
