GUS MACKER FESTIVAL WELCOMES STUDENTS BACK TO CENTRAL

College Students Registration will be open until 7:00pm, Friday – August 29.

- Onsite Macker Registration, Friday afternoon, next to Kelly/Shorts Stadium
CMU students hoping to celebrate their return to campus in a “big” way are welcome to join Gus Macker and multiple host organizations on August 28-30. This “welcome back” festival will provide various forms of entertainment…including basketball competition, live music, great food, exciting games and interactive fun on the CMU campus.
The Mt. Pleasant Convention and Visitors Bureau and the CMU Athletic Department have formed a partnership to create this new event. The initial goal is to raise money for the new Events Center renovation of Rose Arena. The festival will be an outdoor activity taking place in Lot 62, the parking lot adjacent to Kelly Shorts Football Stadium.
Students can participate in a variety of ways…whether it’s playing In the 3-on-3 basketball tournament, watching the “Battle of the Bands” on Friday evening, entering the numerous planned contests throughout the weekend, or attending the concert on Saturday evening. Students may join the hoop action by entering a team for a discounted rate of only $100. Interested teams may signup online or pickup an entry form on campus the first week of classes.
Join us on August 28-30 to help raise funds for the new Events Center and to enjoy the Gus Macker Festival with the community, fellow students and your friends. Please join us as a spectator, volunteer or player…see you on the court!
