Hey Gus Macker Players and Families....

Welcome to the 20th Anniversary of the Gus Macker Basketball Tournament in Ludington, Michigan. We are excited to join the Ludington Chamber of Commerce in bringing the Macker basketball festival back to the beachfront next weekend. The entire community of Ludington is preparing for our arrival....so let's be on our best behavior and recognize the privilege we have in participating in such a beautiful location for our tournament.

Please read the following Conduct and Alcohol Policy and help us keep the Ludington Macker one of our most positive experiences of the summer!

REMINDER: 2011 Updated Conduct & Alcohol Policy:

This event is designed for all ages. Gus Macker and your local organizers want all participating youth and adults to have a positive, fun experience. In order for this to happen we ask that all coaches and parents play a spectator’s role only.

Please note that inappropriate language and/or behavior directed at players or officials will not be tolerated. Only one warning will be given. If the incident reoccurs, the adult involved will be asked to leave. Please help make this a positive event.

Players of Legal Drinking Age (21 & Up):

Like Gus Macker, the Ludington Tournament Committee prohibits Tournament Players from drinking during hours of play within the venue area. Specifically, Saturday 7 am - 9 pm and Sunday 7 am until teams finish tournament play; ALL participating Gus Macker players will be prohibited from drinking alcoholic beverages within the policy boundary. The policy boundary includes the Snow fence on Lakeshore drive to the waters edge of the beach (East to West) and from North of Stearns Park South to the Skate Park.

IMPORTANT: We want to clearly commmunicate that should a Police Officer, Tournament Official, Macker Committee Member and Macker Staff Member see a player with a wrist band violating either the alcohol policy or the Macker Player Conduct policy their wrist band will be cut and they will not be allowed to finish the tournament.

To all players heading to Ludington for our 20th Gus Macker Charity Basketball Tournament, Welcome! This is one of the premier locations on the tournament and we are proud that this tournament benefits so many area schools and non-profits.

We continually strive to keep this a primarily Family Friendly event and so ask that all players, as they have done in the past, continue to respect each other on the court, respect all of our volunteers as well as the Ludington community.

Most importantly, it is essential for the Ludington Committee to clearly communicate that there has been a refining of Stearn's Parks alcohol policy.
