Mt. Pleasant/Central Michigan University is the “academic home” of Gus Macker Basketball.
Gus Macker returns to the streets of Mt. Pleasant and Central Michigan University on April 27th-28th for the first Michigan Macker of 2013! The 3-on-3 basketball tournament will take place in and around historic Finch Fieldhouse in the heart of Central Michigan University’s storied campus with activities for all ages. While Gus Macker celebrates their 40th anniversary worldwide, CMU will celebrate five years of being back on Scott’s alma mater! So…come experience 3-on-3 basketball at its very best as we celebrate our 5th CMU event with a “black tie” theme!
As a unique twist (and another first!) in the Macker world – the Mt. Pleasant/CMU tournament is completely run by college students. Twenty-eight students (enrolled in RPL 318G – The Organization and Administration of Basketball Festivals) serve as the operational team taught by Dr. Tim Otteman and Dr. Lori Irwin as part of CMU’s Event Management minor. Other CMU students involved in the event include athletic training students on the medical team, ROTC students handling security and students in the Professional Sales minor assisting with sponsorship sales.
The 2013 Mt. Pleasant/CMU Macker benefits the Events Center at Central Michigan University.

Central Michigan University event management minors help coordinate the Gus Macker - CMU tournament. Students gained practical real-world experience during the eight-week course. Gus Macker also donated $10,000 to CMU's new Events Center.
