Ishpeming, MI GUS MACKER
Gus Macker – The Original 3-on-3 Basketball Festival of Family Fun!
The City of Ishpeming is located in Marquette County of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, near the shores of the mighty Lake Superior and is home to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and Museum. Current population is 6,600.
Ishpeming history is rooted in the discovery of iron ore in the 1840’s. An Indian named Madji-Gesik led the explorers to a “shiny mountain”, which was a mountain of ore measuring 180 feet high and 1000 feet wide. This historic spot was named Jasper Knob and is known today as the world’s largest gemstone.
In the Ishpeming area, you will find brilliantly unique stores nestled in downtown streets, authentic restaurants to satisfy every taste and recreational trails for miles in untouched woods and crisp air. No need to travel far for great food, breweries, museums, and recreation.
The pioneering spirit and culture here are hard to ignore and will leave you wanting to experience even more of what we have to offer.
